Rodri admitted he was 'close to crying' after a horror challenge forced him off during Manchester City's 4-0 Club World Cup final win over Fluminense.

Rodri injured his right knee after a reckless challenge from Alexsander. He was fit enough to join in the post-match trophy lift and celebrations but the initial aftermath of the tackle looked concerning and the Spaniard was in a lot of pain.

In his post-match press conference, manager Pep Guardiola allayed immediate fears that the midfielder could be out for a long period of time.

And while Rodri was also quick to provide more encouraging news, he admitted it was a scary moment when the pain initially came.
