A rioter wept as he admitted his involvement in a disturbance which saw a black man attacked amid ugly scenes across the United Kingdom at the weekend.
Liam Ryan played an "active role" in disorder sparked by far-right thugs. But he broke down crying and shook in court as he pleaded guilty over his conduct.Ryan, of Bradford, held his hands up to the violent disorder offences, which took place in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester city centre on Saturday, at Manchester Magistrates' Court this morning.
Prosecutor Laura Peers said the 28-year-old had travelled from West Yorkshire to take part in one of a number of "large scale disturbances" in Piccadilly Gardens.She said he was captured on camera "aiming a punch" towards a black man during an altercation after he was targeted by a "large group of far-right protesters".The Mirror reports the shocking footage showed the moment members of the group chucked a fence at the black man, who was punched and kicked after fighting broke out during a protest.
The video, which later went viral, captured several other people involved in the attack, including one man wrapped in an England flag.
