Rangers send clear message to fans that 'discriminatory' singing will not be tolerated at games

Rangers FC have told fans that "discriminatory singing in any form is completely unacceptable" as they warned supporters sanctions were in place to punish the behaviour.The club contacted supporters on Friday afternoon after concerns were raised about fan behaviour during Saturday's friendly away match to Hoffenheim in Germany in which the club drew 2-2.Numerous attendees watching the match in the away end were 'deeply concerned' about the alleged singing by a section and reported this to the club.In an email sent to those in attendance at the match, the club said they would not tolerate 'discriminatory singing' and added that SPFL and UEFA sanctions were in place to punish this.It comes as the men's first-team prepare to kick-off their seasons both domestically and in Europe, with any sanctions "extremely harmful to the club on and off the pitch".The email read: "Following last Saturday’s friendly match away to Hoffenheim, we have been contacted by numerous attendees in the away end who were deeply concerned with some of the alleged singing by a section of the away support.

These concerns are shared by the club. "For the avoidance of doubt, discriminatory singing in any form is completely unacceptable at our matches whether they take place away from home or at Ibrox Stadium. "The club is rightly proud of our multicultural men’s first-team squad and diverse support.

Our Everyone Anyone campaign sends a clear message of inclusion and togetherness, and a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of discrimination on and off the pitch." The email continued: "Rangers are a modern football club, with a support recognised across Europe for the positive way in which they back their team.
