A lorry loaded with a stolen car led police to what they believe is a huge 'chop shop'. Officers from GMP’s Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit spotted the driver of the HGV acting suspiciously on Sumner Street in Shaw, Oldham, on Wednesday.

After stopping the vehicle, officers found a compound situated just off Sumner Street, where they uncovered an operation inside a large industrial complex where parts suspected of being stripped from stolen cars were found.

Inside the complex were car parts scattered across a yard of the premises, with tyres and other parts also piled up inside a workshop where it is believed cars were being stripped to sell on for a profit.

The shell of a Land Rover was found as well also several other black Land Rover parts. A Ford Fiesta was partially stripped and a Mercedes engine was recovered.
