A police constable shown on mobile phone footage kicking a man in the head at Manchester Airport is under criminal investigation for assault.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct stressed it doesn't necessarily mean criminal charges will follow. But the watchdog confirmed that after the conclusion of its investigation, a decision would be made over whether to refer the case to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The IOPC, meanwhile, said it would be meeting 'a number of community leaders' in Rochdale later today to 'listen to their concerns and explain our role'.

The officer hasn't been named.
