‘Please - my baby is asleep upstairs!’

A terrified mum woke to sounds of masked robbers breaking into her house, before pleading with them that her baby was asleep upstairs.

The woman and her family were in bed during the early hours of the morning when she heard a ‘loud bang’ and ran downstairs to find David Tierney, 31, and Cameron Robinson, 25, wearing balaclavas and standing in her kitchen.

She saw one was armed with a knife - Robinson - and said she thought was going to die, Manchester Crown Court heard. She then told them about her baby who was sleeping upstairs. But after noticing the police were nearby, Tierney shouted: “Lights!” before the woman quickly unlocked the door and both were arrested.
