Pillar of the community Cathy has seen it all in her time as she celebrates 104th birthday

A care home resident in Wishaw who has just celebrated her 104th birthday is the latest recipient of the Wishaw Press’ Say it with Flowers Award.Born in July 1920, Cathy Hillock was described as an “outstanding pillar of the community” who was a justice of the peace for decades and only retired from her role as the chair of the Lanarkshire arm of a well-known charity six years ago.The centenarian was nominated for our award by Cathy Tognieri, who is the manager at Beechwood Care Home in Bridge Street where she has been a resident for the last few years.Cathy (Tognieri) said: “Cathy Hillock has been an outstanding pillar of the community for a number of years.
