Pep Guardiola has told his Manchester City players it is "not normal" to concede goals in the way they did against Chelsea and RB Leipzig after the Blues were again exposed on the break in the Champions League.
After the chaotic 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, City were much better defensively against Liverpool at the weekend, but bad habits returned on Tuesday, with the Bundesliga side 2-0 up at half-time, before a second-half comeback earned Guardiola's side a 3-2 win and safe passage into the knockout stages as group winners.
Lois Openda netted both goals with Manuel Akanji and Ruben Dias losing individual duels against the Belgian striker, allowing him to break clear to latch on to long balls and beat Stefan Ortega on both occasions. "It is not normal to concede four goals the way we did against Chelsea and today, it is the truth.
That didn’t happen last season," said Guardiola. "We talked about it, it’s football, human beings, it happens, but we have to improve it.
