Over 2700 people in Lanarkshire living with sight loss as optician marks national eye health week

More than 2700 people across Lanarkshire are living with sight loss, according to latest figures shared by an optician to mark national eye health week.Staff at Specsavers branches in Wishaw and Hamilton are raising awareness of the dangers of ignoring telltale signs of eye conditions which can lead to sight loss.They highlighted statistics indicating that 1440 residents in South Lanarkshire and 1300 in North Lanarkshire are living with sight loss - with research from the Royal National Institute for Blind People (RNIB) showing that the respective numbers are set to rise to 12,700 and 11,500 by 2032.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
