One teen arrested and another in hospital after latest stabbing on streets of Greater Manchester

A 14-year-old boy is in hospital following a stabbing in Harpurhey this evening. A second 14-year-old boy has been arrested in relation to the incident, believed to have happened shortly before 6.05pm on Tavistock Square.

Police and paramedics flooded the area and forensic investigators have been working on the scene for much of the evening. Greater Manchester Police have not released details on the severity of the victim's injuries. A police spokesperson said the stabbing is not believed to represent a wider threat to the community. Superintendent Cara Charlesworth said: “We are in the early stages of our enquiries and understand that this incident will cause concern to the community in Harpurhey and across the whole of Greater Manchester.

You may notice that there will be an increase in officers out on the streets and in the surrounding areas over the coming days to gather intelligence and offer reassurance to the public. “If anyone has any information about this incident or has any concerns, I encourage you to speak to these officers.
