The Australian Olympic Committee has dropped the bombshell that an Aussie hockey player has been arrested by police on a night out.

Local media reported on Wednesday, 7 August, that 28 year old Thomas Craig, a member of the Australian hockey team, was allegedly caught attempting to buy cocaine on the streets of Paris, and has since been taken into custody.

In a statement, the officials shared: "The Australian Olympic Committee has confirmed an Australian hockey team member is in custody after being arrested in Paris on August 6th." They added: "No charges have been laid. The AOC is continuing to make enquiries and arrange support for the team member." Craig was part of the Aussie squad that clinched a silver medal at the postponed Tokyo 2020 games. - he also bagged a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

Australia's dreams at the men's hockey tournament were dashed earlier this week by the Netherlands, who smoothly sailed into a 2-0 victory, knocking the Aussies out of the game, reports the Mirror. This win allowed the Netherlands to progress further in the tournament and served as a sweet revenge against Australia, following their defeat in the same match-up during the Tokyo games.
