Olly Murs has shared that the late Caroline Flack told him some of her "happiest" times were spent working with him. The 39 year old singer and presenter, who found fame on The X Factor, presented spin-off series The Xtra Factor alongside Caroline for a number of years, and in 2015, they hosted the main show.
Caroline, who presented Love Island solo as well as a season of X Factor with Olly, tragically died by suicide in 2020, aged 40.
Chatting to Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen on the Take That: This Life podcast, Olly said: "They were great years and it was good for us 'cause we did The Xtra Factor at the time, so it was a bit more relaxed." He added: "The way we wanted the show to be when I came in ...
we wanted to create that sort of TFI Friday kind of vibe." Speaking about the judges, he said: "When you guys used to come down you could forget all the stuff that's going on and producers in your ears." Gary Barlow, who was a judge on the X Factor from 2011 to 2013, responded saying they, the judges, would often "look forward to it".
