Objector storms out of planning meeting in row over homes

An objector stormed out of a Tameside council planning meeting yesterday, after a row over dozens of new homes became heated.

People opposing the development claim “there are major shortcomings”, including overshadowing, noise and sunlight. During the planning meeting, a Tameside planning officer introduced the item.

Objector, Danielle Atkin, opposed the site design and highlighted three major points, which were the overshadowing from blocks A,B,C and I, the impact of noise and loss of privacy for some residents and the overdevelopment highlighted by the 50% parking measure for the apartment blocks. Ms Atkin had addressed the council and said: "There are major shortcomings on the site design which I have highlighted here today." There are also worries that construction would create disturbance in the area, the issue was flagged by 34 letters of objection.

Established in 1997 Seamark PLC, located on Edge Lane specialises in frozen foods, their facility is set to become the location for 143 new homes.
