Nicola Sturgeon has had her £600,000-a-year police security removed, according to reports.The former First Minister's 24-hour protection had been kept in place since she had resigned in March.
But the Scottish Sun reported that the security has now been withdrawn as Police Scotland and the Scottish Government could not justify the cost.
The paper said that the changes were signed off by former Chief Constable Iain Livingstone and top Scottish Government official John-Paul Marks.The police team was made up of six officers who worked on rotation.
It also included vehicles.Her protection was extended after she left office as their were fears for her security. A source close to Sturgeon said that "to suggest she wants ongoing security could not be further from reality".
