Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have shared their “exuberant” new single ‘Frogs’ from their forthcoming album ‘Wild God‘.The song was the first to be penned for the band’s 18th studio album and features allusions to the biblical story of Cain and Abel. ‘Frogs’ features a twinkling piano riff that plays throughout the song with Cave singing: “Ushering in the week he knelt down / Crushed his brother’s head in with a bone / It’s my great privilege / Oh babe, to walk you home,” referencing the first murder in the Bible.Speaking about the track in a press release, Cave said: “The sheer exuberance of a song like ‘Frogs’, it just puts a big fucking smile on my face.” ‘Frogs’ is the second single to be released from ‘Wild God’.

The LP’s titular song was released as the lead single back in March. Set for release on August 30, ‘Wild God’ will be comprised of 10 songs and see the band move between themes of convention and experimentation – introducing left-turns that heighten the rich imagery and emotive narratives created by the frontman.

You can pre-order the LP here.“I hope the album has the effect on listeners that it’s had on me. It bursts out of the speaker, and I get swept up with it.

It’s a complicated record, but it’s also deeply and joyously infectious,” Cave said of the upcoming release.“There is never a masterplan when we make a record.
