Nia Vardalos is claiming that her Writers Guild of America health insurance was canceled. The 60-year-old actress and screenwriter is now clearing the air about what’s going on as the WGA strike approaches its fifth month. Keep reading to find out more… Nia took to Instagram on Thursday (September 21) to explain why she lost her WGA health insurance. “My Writers Guild health coverage was canceled today.
So fellow writers, I’m thinking that yours was probably canceled too or will be soon. And fellow actors, you’re probably next,” she said. Nia went on to clarify that her health insurance was not canceled because her film My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 was released in theaters during the strike. “The cast and I followed every strike rule, we are in solidarity with our unions, we did everything right,” she wrote. Nia explained that the loss of her health insurance was due to other factors.
She ended her post with an appeal for help from others involved with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. “My insurance ran out because writers need better coverage,” she wrote. “I think I have answered every question that came my way.
