A music venue has been forced to issue an apology after male gig-goers at a planned show from The Last Dinner Party were faced with ‘scrutiny’ from security.

The indie band, who won the BRIT Rising Star award this year as well as the BBC Sound of 2024 poll, are currently in the midst of a UK tour to support their debut album Prelude to Ecstasy, which reached number one back in February.

Having already performed an impressive show at Victoria Warehouse earlier this month, which was hailed as being ‘high-concept, intellectual pop’, the band had been due to perform at venues in Lincoln and Cardiff at the weekend. Their show at Tramshed in Cardiff on Sunday was also cancelled. Taking to social media, many male attendees at the Lincoln show reported being ‘whisked away and searched’ by security staff and questioned about whether they were a fan of the band or not - some fans also claimed they were asked to recite their favourite song.
