Monty Don has shared a "secret" gardening hack to keep roses thriving, but only if it's done every day.With June underway, the gardening legend has shared a new blog on all the jobs gardeners should do this month to ensure a glorious outdoor space.

This should be repeated on flowering shrub roses and shrubs that once flowered but are not sprouting hips.Explaining how to dead-head roses properly, Monty advised: "Do not just pull off the spent petals but use secateurs and cut the spent stem right back to the next leaf or bud below it - however far down that is.
