But it spared under-pressure boss Beale from facing the inevitable chop following his side’s disastrous defeats to PSV and Celtic.
Both Danilo and Gordon had to be taken off after the incident, with the Rangers ace now surely a doubt for Rangers’ Europa League opener with Real Betis on Thursday.
But it wasn’t until substitute Rabbi Matondo stroked home with 12 minutes left that Beale could breath a sigh of relief.But while it’s a win that will calm the bloodlust surrounding him, it was a performance that will do little to win over his doubters as again Gers failed to put on a convincing show.
