The UK is set for some warmer weather after the weekend with temperatures in the high 20s possible. The Met Office says there are signals that sunnier weather conditions are on the way next week - particularly in central and eastern areas of the country.

However, despite reports that a heatwave is on the horizon, this is unlikely to be the case in the north west. Currently, temperatures in Greater Manchester are forecast to reach a high of 24C during next week, and up to 27C in eastern and southern areas. A Met Office spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News: "Heat is not really going to be a feature for the north west of England.

The way warm pressures are building it looks like there will be fronts covering the western part of the UK, and the warm conditions will be in the east. "There is a little uncertainty on how long this will remain in place for.
