Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are 'nervous' about returning to the UK, according to a leading royal expert. With their return to mark the ten year anniversary of the Invictus Games looking likely for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex this May, a Jennie Bond has spoken to OK!
about why the couple will feel worried about stepping back on UK soil. She's also revealed how the decision will be Meghan's. "I very much doubt that Harry would ever put pressure on Meghan to do anything she doesn’t want to – especially coming to the UK when he himself has said he doesn’t feel his wife and children are safe here without an enhanced level of security, which has so recently been denied as an automatic right," former BBC royal correspondent Jennie explained. "Meghan is probably the one who wears the trousers in this relationship, and Harry, who adores her, would never want to compromise the happiness of their marriage by asking her to do something she is reluctant about." Jennie continued: "I think that both of them would be nervous about the reception that Meghan would get in the UK.
I think there is still residual affection for Harry, but I really don’t think the same can be said for his wife. "However, the Invictus Games, are something both feel very passionate about, so it could be that Meghan will decide off her own bat to make a brief return to the UK." The last time Meghan was in England was in September 2022, when she and Prince Harry's charity visits coincided with the death of Queen Elizabeth II - with the pair joining members of the Royal Family for the funeral and committal service.
Jennie's comments come after royal author Tom Quinn told The Mirror that Harry is "putting pressure" on his wife Meghan to join him at the event..
