MCFLY star Tom Fletcher has thanked medics after he was whisked to hospital with a debilitating eye condition. Tom, 37, has shared a picture of himself with fans and one of his eyes is noticeably droopy in the snap.

The singer apologised for his recent absence from social media and explained that he now faces six weeks of steroid treatment, wearing sunglasses and sitting in dark rooms.

Tom wrote on Instagram: "Sorry I’ve been quiet for a bit. "I was wiped out with some sort of illness and in bed for a few days. "I just got back on my feet yesterday and uveitis decided to kick me down again.
