Martin Lewis has issued a warning over vulnerable customers being targeted by malicious scammers. It comes after UK banks warned that customers could have £100 million stolen from them throughout December alone.
Speaking on The Martin Lewis Podcast, the money-saving expert himself said he was 'heavily involved' in the campaign to get scam advert regulation included in the Online Safety Bill.
He highlighted that regulation around harmful content online will take roughly 12 to 18 months to be implemented. However, he said Ofcom will likely only have the powers to tackle scam adverts in around two-and-a-half years. Later on in the podcast, Martin provided some of his top tips to avoid scammers and potentially losing your money. He said: "Always be vigilant when you're approached by a person or company selling you something you have not requested, cold calling is a warning.
