Coronation Street's Simon Gregson has been selling his old furniture to help him pay off a tax bill, it has been reported. The 49 year old actor, who has played the role of Steve McDonald on the ITV soap since 1989, allegedly owes HMRC £100,000.
In addition to the large tax bill, reports also say that Simon owes money to Coutts Bank for a COVID bounce-back loan. Due to this further debt, it's thought that the soap star owes a substantial amount of money, equating to £165,000 in total.
Simon's money issues were previously brought to light back in November 2023 after it was claimed that his production company, Simon Gregson Productions Ltd had gone into liquidation.
Reports say that his company was short of money and assets, which meant he was not able to pay off his debts at the time. Meanwhile, The Sun has shared an insight into Simon's former production company. The outlet revealed that the office equipment had "a book value in the Company's financial statements as at year end 30 September 2022 of £4,208." "The realisable value is uncertain although due to the age and condition of the equipment it is anticipated any realisations will be minimal," the publication added.
