Married sergeant arrested after 'spending time at home of young constable'
manchestereveningnews.co.ukA married sergeant has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office after allegedly spending time at the home of a young constable while on duty.
The Merseyside Police firearms officer has since been placed on restricted duties and is under investigation, the Liverpool Echo reports.
It is understood Cheshire Police are leading the investigation to avoid any perceptions of a conflict of interests. The relationship between the sergeant and the young constable is not clear. A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "On Wednesday November 8, officers from Cheshire Police arrested a 38-year-old man at an address in Formby on suspicion of misconduct in public office. "The man was questioned by officers and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries." Merseyside Police confirmed the arrested man was a serving police officer.
