Manchester Piccadilly station was evacuated this morning over a batch of burnt pastries. The fire alarm went off at the station earlier today (Thursday).
Passengers were asked to leave the station as the alarm sounded, with a picture showing a crowd of people having to wait outside the main entrance.
Network Rail has now revealed that the alarm went off after a retailer inside the station burnt a batch of pastries. Passengers were let back inside shortly after. A Network Rail spokesperson said: "We’re very sorry to any passengers who were disrupted by the fire alarm at Manchester Piccadilly this morning. "One of the station retailers unfortunately burned a batch of pastries.
