It’s perhaps a little known fact that Manchester City star Matheus Nunes used to work in a bakery before he hit it big as a footballer.
So, the superstar was taken back to his roots last week to work a shift at a popular hatch-style bakery in Ancoats to see if he remembered a thing or two.
Matheus, who represented Portugal at the 2022 Fifa World Cup and joined City in a £53 million bid this summer following a year at Wolverhampton Wanderers, visited The Flat Baker to serve customers and try his hand at making one of the bakery’s best-selling products.
The bakery, which was recently nominated Independent Food Producer of the Year at this year’s Manchester Food and Drink Awards, has proven to be a big hit in Ancoats since it opened last year.
