Man mauled to death by dog in family member's garden 'died of blunt force trauma from bites'

A man found dead in a garden of a family member's home died of blunt force trauma from dog bites, an inquest was told. Nicholas Glass was found dead outside a home in Birmingham, in the early hours of August 21, reports the Mirror.Police believe as many as four dogs were present when the 33-year-old was attacked.

Two of the animals were seized by searching police officers at the time and the remaining pair were discovered two days later.

Tests found two of the dogs were banned breed XL bully, and neither had a certificate of exemption despite the recent change in law.An inquest was launched into the death of Mr Glass, from Chalybeate Close in Rubery, at Birmingham and Solihull Coroners’ Court on Mondau.

Coroner James Bennett said Mr Glass was identified by police at the scene.Mr Bennett said. “I would like to take this opportunity to express my condolences to the family of Mr Glass.”In a heartfelt tribute released through police last month, Mr Glass's family said: “In Nicholas we’ve lost a loving son, brother and uncle who was adored by all of his family and friends.“He was kind-hearted, caring and compassionate and he’d do anything for anyone.
