Manchester City have agreed a deal in principle to send Kalvin Phillips on loan to Ipswich for the coming season. The loan move, which is yet to be finalised, will see Phillips leave the Etihad on a second temporary spell in 2024, having spent the second half of last season at West Ham.
His two years at City have been blighted by injury, poor form and a rocky relationship with Pep Guardiola since joining from Leeds for £42million.
Phillips was unhappy when Guardiola told a press conference he returned 'overweight' from the 2022 World Cup, prompting an apology from the manager earlier this year. Phillips ended the summer tour of the USA playing at centre-back, impressing in that role and earning praise from Guardiola.
