Lloyds Banking Group which includes the Bank of Scotland has set out plans to axe another 53 high street bank branches which will include sites in Scotland.
Branches affected in Scotland will close throughout this year from the north to the south of the country. Across the UK, Lloyds is closing 21 branches, while Halifax is closing 22 sites and Bank of Scotland (BoS) will be shutting 10, reports the Mirror. The news of more closures will be disappointing for those who rely on face-to-face banking.
Lloyds Banking Group says most customers are now using mobile apps, internet banking or phone calls to do their banking, which means people are using branches much less.
In some areas, a banking hub will be set up where customers will be able to do their everyday banking. Community Bankers will visit these hubs who will be able to speak to people and provide help with making payments as well as other account enquiries.
