A Lanarkshire thug punched his girlfriend in a taxi then threatened the driver with a broken bottle after being told they’d have to walk home.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that Ryan McMillan made the frightened cabbie hand back the £8 fare. McMillan, 24, formerly of Small Crescent, Blantyre, admitted assaulting the woman and assaulting and robbing a male taxi driver.

Alice Carey, prosecuting, said the couple and another male and female were travelling from East Kilbride in the early hours of the morning.
