Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. After singing in church during her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager.

Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album Katy Hudson under her birth name in 2001, which was commercially unsuccessful. She moved to Los Angeles the following year to venture into secular music after Red Hill ceased operations and she subsequently began working with producers Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin.

After adopting the stage name Katy Perry and being dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007.

Ed Sheeran

Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE (born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. It topped the UK and Australian charts, reached number five in the US, and has since been certified eight-times platinum in the UK.

The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, where he performed the song with Elton John.

Ryan John Seacrest (born December 24, 1974) is an American radio personality, television host, and producer. Seacrest is known for hosting the competition show American Idol, the syndicated countdown program American Top 40, and iHeartMedia's KIIS-FM morning radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

Sheeran, 32, and Morrissette, 48, were announced as the “big time” guest judges on Sunday’s episode of “Idol” and will join country star, Luke Bryan, as the competitors are whittled down to the top 5.

Perry’s hiatuas from the show comes as several fans have slammed the 38-year-old for her rude on-stage behavior.“Next week some huge happenings, Lionel and Katy are off to the UK to perform in the coronation of King Charles III,” said host Ryan Seacrest, 48, to applause from the audience. “What an honor.” Seacrest then asks the judges and audience members if they would like to find out who will be filling in for Perry and Richie, to which they both agree. “I am so excited to be mentoring you and hearing your interpretations of my songs,” gushed Morrissette in a pre-recorded video. “And surprise, I will be guest judging with Luke as well!” Sheeran also expressed his joy over being asked to judge. “I cannot wait to guide you through this stage of the competition and career,” said the “Bad Habits” singer who revealed it was his first time judging on the show. “I hope you are having a great time and see you very, very soon.” The Post reached out to both Sheeran and Morrissette for comment.

Seacrest revealed that each star will also perform one of their own hits, with Sheeran singing his new single “Boat,” while Morrissette belts out one of her classics.Bryan initially teased the appearance of the duo by saying that a couple of “big time” Hollywood stars will be filling in.“It’s big time.
