Kate Middleton has a clever trick up her sleeve to ensure she's incognito when venturing out alone, a source has revealed. The Princess of Wales' handy hack was revealed by former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown in her most recent tell-all book, The Palace Papers, writes The Mirror.

Tina said that Kate would set her alarm for the early hours of the morning, when she could leave the royal households to have some "me time" in public without being pestered. She went on to say that the royal would go to her favourite places to enjoy some time to herself before the day began and anyone else was there.Going out at such an early time also meant the Duchess avoided photographers and reporters, in addition to ordinary citizens who might recognise her.

With no one to follow her around, the Princess could also "nourish her life".Most of the time, the clever trick works well but she has been caught out on occasion.

One time, she was spotted visiting a David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy in London on a secret visit and her cover was blown.William and Kate tied the knot in 2011 but the princess has made sure to find her own ways to maintain her interests and individuality since becoming a royal. However, it was the future King himself who helped the couple to find privacy when they first started dating while they were studying at St Andrews University in Scotland together, which is where they famously met.The couple reportedly used to sneak off to a secret home on the royal Balmoral Estate together which is a special place to them where they spent many days at the beginning of their relationship hidden away from the public eye.
