After a rush to hospital with jaundice earlier this week, A Place in the Sun star Jonnie Irwin has broken his silence and issued an update. The 49 year old has admitted it's "time for a break" admitting that he now faces "bigger problems" amid his cancer battle. "Time for some current bun and a break from hospitals and builder and them a break from me!" he told fans. "Thankfully a mate needs somewhere to crash so there’s someone to keep an eye on everyone whilst I’m away as it’s a big week on site too. #livelifetothefull" This touching moment of reflection comes after Jonnie was discharged from hospital earlier this week. "Well the blood tests and scans today show my liver function is heading in the right direction. "There’s bigger issues we will have to confront in a couple of weeks but for now I’m allowed home.

I’m taking the small win for now. Rex tried to stay up to welcome me home but couldn’t quite stay awake bless him, although Reggie and Ronnie were wide awake so I got to them a story. "Big big thanks to all the doctors and nurses who looked after me I’m so grateful to be home." Fans, friends and family rallied around to show their love and support with A Place in the Sun co-host Ben Hillman first in Jonnie's comments, who said: "Good on you Jonnie boy, hope you have a fun filled sun filled time with the fam," followed by a loveheart emoji.

A fan added: "Enjoy celebrating your birthday with your lovely family and enjoy the sunshine." Another said poignantly: "Go and live and make memories with your beautiful family and hope you all have a fab time." Another said: "Love this mentality, you are truly inspiring." The BBC Escape to the Country star is heading out for a family holiday to the Costa Del Sol to celebrate.
