Jesse Williams Explains Why He Assigns His Kids His 'Own' Homework

Jesse Williams is getting candid about parenthood. In an interview with Us Weekly, the 42-year-old actor explained why he assigns his kids his own homework, in addition to what they’ve been assigned at school. Keep reading to find out what he said… “I assign my own [homework] in the same way that my dad did to me,” he told the outlet. “They have schoolwork and then they have homework, which is work that I give them that I’ve chosen for them to do to make sure they’re able to comprehend and discern what’s happening around them and articulate both internally and externally what they’re feeling and thinking.” Jesse is a dad to Sadie, 9, and Maceo, 7, who he shares with his ex-wife Aryn Drake-Lee.

He added that he’s been working with his kids to make sure they’re prepared for the new school year. “My kids are still in elementary school [and to see them] still be just excited about school and seeing their friends and being challenged ….

It’s nice to have them somewhere where curiosity is encouraged and school is not always exciting for people,” he explained. As for one of the challenges he finds important to address in parenting, he noted that it’s important to make sure each child gets their own individual attention. “They are not collectively one child.

They are individuals and trying to make sure you are attentive to that,” Jesse said. “Just making sure you’re present in the right ways and prioritizing quality over quantity.” Jesse, who used to teach high school before stepping away to launch his acting career, also said that he misses his time in the classes. “You know for a few years I would regularly speak and visit schools, especially universities, but that kind of died with COVID,” he said. “But I’d like to
