Trams were stopped in south Manchester earlier as police responded to reports of 'concern for the welfare of a man'. Officers were called to the Burton Road Metrolink stop in Didsbury at around 12.40pm this afternoon.
Trams between St Werburgh's Road and East Didsbury were halted as they responded. A man was taken to safety by around 1.15pm, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed.
Metrolink services are now back to normal. READ NEXT: The terrifying image that greeted a police officer when they stopped a car outside a school In a post on X at 12.55pm, the Bee Network said: "Due to a police incident at Burton Road, no trams are operating between St Werburgh's Road and East Didsbury.
Tickets and passes are being accepted on the 23, 25, 42, 43, 85, 86, 142, 171 and 172 bus services." In an update a short time later, the Bee Network posted: "The incident has now cleared and services are able to operate through to East Didsbury.
