Inspectors ordered a restaurant to close after finding it infested with mice and filthy kitchen equipment being used. Now the former owner of the Kohinoor restaurant in Derby Street, Bolton has been ordered to pay more than £7,000 by magistrates after pleading guilty of a catalogue of hygiene offences.
Yasar Ali Begum, who previously ran Kohinoor, pleaded guilty to eight offences at Bolton Magistrates Court on Monday, March 27.
He was fined £4,528 and ordered to pay costs of £2,490. The restaurant is now under new ownership. Environmental health officers from Bolton Council initially visited the restaurant in February 2022 to carry out a routine food hygiene inspection.
They found mouse droppings, a filthy drainage outlet clogged with grease and debris and other unhygienic and dirty equipment.
