When "the one, the only" Celine Dion made a surprise public appearance on stage at this year's Grammy Awards to present the album of the year prize, the crowd - including the award recipient Taylor Swift - gave her a standing ovation.

It was "very, very touching", the 56 year old Canadian said afterwards, especially as it came almost three decades since she took home the much-coveted accolade herself. "When I say that I'm happy to be here, I really mean it with my heart," she told the adoring crowd. "It gives me great joy to present a Grammy Award that two legends, Diana Ross and Sting, presented to me 27 years ago." Celine, who now graces the May front cover of Vogue France, has been absent from the stage for a number years following her 2022 diagnosis of the neurological condition Stiff Person's Syndrome.

The songstress, whose biggest hits include Think Twice and It's All Coming Back to Me Now - from her Grammy-winning Falling Into You album, was forced to cancel her Las Vegas residency the year before the diagnosis, and then pull the plug on her Courage World Tour.

But her return to the stage at the recent 66th Grammys, hosted by Trevor Noah on 4 February in Los Angeles, appeared to be just the start, as the star says she refuses to let the disease win. "I haven’t beaten the disease, as it's still within me and always will be.
