Ian Murray brands Humza Yousaf 'desperate' after admitting Labour will win general election

Ian Murray has branded Humza Yousaf as "desperate" after the First Minister claimed there was no point in voting Labour because the party is going to win the general election.The First Minister had admitted that Keir Starmer would win the election but said that Scottish Labour MPs would "just make up the numbers down in Westminster".He said that "Starmer does not need Scotland to win the election" so people should vote SNP to ensure there are no Scottish Tory MPs.Labour's Shadow Scotland Secretary Murray said the First Minister's line of argument actually meant "there's no point in voting SNP".

The Edinburgh South MP said that Scotland would "be at the heart" of ousting the Tories from power.He told the Daily Record: "Actually at this election, if you look at it from that perspective, there's no point in voting SNP because the whole election is going to be a change election."It's going to be about removing the Tories from power and putting in a UK Labour government."And Scotland should play its part in not only getting that across the line, but being at the heart of it and will be at the heart of it because Keir Starmer has made that pretty clear."It comes after a Redfield and Winton poll predicted that Labour would take 27 seats at the general election.
