'I went away with my family - I was the only one to return alive'

Sadiqul Islam left his home with his family in the UK for a trip to Asia last summer - that ended with all his close relatives dead.

A carbon monoxide leak inthe flat they were staying in killed his father and broher. Eleven days after the freak gas accident, Sadiqul's sister passed away and a few months later, as if the 25-year-old had not suffered enough, he lost his mum due to injuries sustained from the same leak, reports WalesOnline. "Entering the house I was thinking how I should be with my family but instead I am by myself," reflects Sadiqul as he returned to his home in Cardiff.

Sadiqul was on a trip to Bangladesh in July 2022 with his parents and two younger siblings when there was a carbon monoxide leak in the flat they were staying in. READ MORE: I tried the award-winning chippy that has queues round the corner His father Rofikul Islam, 48, and his brother Mahiqul, 17, died shortly after they were found unconscious at the flat in the Sylhet part of the country on 26 July.

Just 11 days later he received the devastating news that his sister, Samira, 20, has also not regained consciousness and had died.
