Former firearms officer Siobhan Callaghan is chasing her dream of becoming a midwife at Paisley university. She used to work as a marine counter terrorism authorised firearms officer with the Ministry of Defence Police (MDP), protecting the nation for over a decade, Glasgow Live reported.
Siobhan then decided to study Nursing and Midwifery at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS). After six years with Police Scotland and four years on a boat working for the Marine unit, she said: "It sounds very James Bond, but it's not really like that."Becoming a midwife was always Siobhan's dream, but she put it on hold when she became a mum at 18.
However, the thought of delivering babies was always in her mind. Now, she's a third-year student in the BSc Nursing and Midwifery program at UWS.She shared: "I enjoyed my time in the Police, but you need to do a fitness test every year and I was getting older.
My kids were almost all grown up, and I started to think about my next move."Siobhan added: "It's been an incredible journey, it's been hard, but it's been so satisfying.
