A cycling champion who was left with agonising injuries after being knocked from her bike has told how she is still struggling one year on.Christina Mackenzie was hospitalised with a shattered pelvis after being hit by a vehicle towing an agricultural trailer along the B822 – at the Kippen roundabout – on September 27 last year. The 46-year-old time trial specialist was left lying by the roadside as the driver of the car failed to stop.Police subsequently launched an appeal to trace the motorist – including publishing CCTV images of a vehicle they suspect was involved. However one year on, the driver has not been traced, with Christina, who was faced with a long battle back to fitness, desperate for answers.Christina – a member of Stirling Bike Club – this week told the Observer she has “no hope” that the driver will ever be brought to justice.“It’s been a year since my accident and I’m disappointed to say the driver of the vehicle has not been traced despite a clear image of the vehicle and a national public appeal”, she said.“With the help of a physio, hard work and commitment, I have physically recovered – but not so much mentally.
