Casey Bloys is the first senior executive to address the end of the strike publicly. Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content Bloys said that he’s happy that the writers strike is over. “I’m happy it’s past us,” he said at the Code Conference.
This comes after the writers strike officially ended this morning at 12:01am following the tentative agreement between the WGA and the AMPTP. “I’m happy that everybody appears to be very happy with the deal that they got.
I want everybody to feel that they’ve gotten a good deal and are ready to get back to work,” he said. He said that the strike won’t change the type of shows that he’s planning to order. “A good show is a good show,” he said. “We’ve been through strikes before.
It doesn’t affect the kinds of shows we make.” But he did call it an “existential” moment for the TV and film industry. “There’s a lot changing and shifting.
