The Scottish Gaelic Awards are underway, and we’re looking for the best Gaelic champions that Scotland has to offer. The awards, with title sponsor Bord Na Gaidhlig, will be held on Tuesday February 21, at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel.
Nominations are open until January 8 2023 - for more information, visit scottishgaelicawards.co.uk.The awards celebrate those who have made a significant contribution to Gaelic culture and language - with categories covering a range of achievements.
One of this year’s Gaelic in Sport nominations is FC Sonas - a football club set up with support from Highland Council and Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
Set up by Donnie Forbes and Calum Ferguson in 2020, the club works to engage new and existing Gaelic speakers - and help them polish their language and football skills at the same time.The club engages in a range of activities - holding games and training camps, producing training videos and materials - and during the pandemic FC Sonas produced a series of videos designed to help people keep active and practise Gaelic.
