Shōgun is a hit, and it’s getting not one, but two new seasons! FX and Hulu confirmed Thursday (May 16) that it is teaming with the estate of author James Clavell to extend Shōgun for two additional seasons, via THR.
Both seasons are in development, meaning that a two-season renewal depends on how the creative comes in, the report adds. Keep reading to find out more… The network is putting together a writers room, opening in the summer to explore a continuation of the story beyond the original novel.
Co-creators, exec producers and writers Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo, exec producer Michaela Clavell as well as star and producer Hiroyuki Sanada are all involved with the development.
Shōgun Season 1 wrapped in April, and became FX’s most-watched show ever. The 10-episode first season is available now on Hulu.
