Given that Scotland's national animal is a unicorn and one of its most famous stories is the Loch Ness Monster, it's perhaps not too surprising that the country has a strong relationship with the supernatural.Although a YouGov poll in January 2020 revealed that almost half of Scots believe it is 'very unlikely' there are aliens living on Earth - compared to just 4 per cent who thought it 'very likely' - there have been some strange occurrences over the years. We boast a rich history when it comes to extraterrestrial encounters and even have a village that has been dubbed the 'UFO capital of the world' due to the number of spacecraft sightings that have been reported thereHere we take a look at four of the oddest close encounters between Scots and UFOs down the years.Back in 1979, Robert Taylor claimed that he spotted a UFO in the West Lothian forest.

He said that he encountered an odd metallic sphere that was hovering above a clearing in the woodlands. He began to approach it before two smaller spheres emerged and started to drag him towards the larger object.

The next thing he knew, he was waking up after losing consciousness. He reported the incident to police, who launched a probe and found unusual marks in the clearing that didn't match any known vehicle.

While testing on Robert's clothes showed that they appeared to have been ripped by a sharp upward pull, possibly by a mechanical device. The case has enthralled people for four decades and, in 2018, an information board was erected at the site to explain what had happened there.Bonnybridge near Falkirk has been dubbed the UFO capital of the world, with locals even reporting hundreds of sightings in a day at some points.
