A rising sports star who swapped Ayrshire for the West Coast of Australia has featured at the Women’s World Cup as a flag bearer.Evie McAllister, 12, from Alloway, made the move down under with her family on Christmas Day, 2021.
The athletic youngster swapped Cambusdoon Girls for Kalamunda United in Perth.And it was there she was selected to take part in the pre-match ceremony as Denmark faced off against Haiti in the city’s Rectangular Stadium.
The former Alloway Primary pupil was part of a team of girls that held up the Danish flag as the two nations prepared for their Group D clash, with the Danes running out 2-0 winners.Evie first moved to Austrailia with mum, Natalie, 48, and dad Iain, 44, in December 2021, before being joined by big brother Allan, 27 in February this year.
Iain has told of his pride at getting to see his girl take part at the biggest Women’s World Cup ever staged.Iain told Ayrshire Live: “Evie was selected through her team Kalamunda United.
