Firefighters rush to huge blaze at B&M store

Fire crews remain in attendance at a retail park in Heywood following a blaze at a shop this afternoon. Emergency services were called to the B&M store at Times Retail Park on Dawson Street at around 4.30pm following reports of a fire.

Six fire engines were called to the scene alongside a technical rescue unit. Three hose reels were used by crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) to extinguish the fire.

GMFRS crews and Greater Manchester Police remain at the scene. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 4.30pm on Saturday 18 November, fire crews were called to reports of a fire at a commercial building on Dawson Street, Heywood. “Six fire engines from Heywood, Oldham, Broughton, Rochdale, Chadderton and Ramsbottom stations, alongside the technical rescue unit from Ashton, were quickly mobilised to the scene. “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three hose reels to extinguish the fire. “GMFRS crews remain in attendance, working alongside Greater Manchester Police (GMP) to make the scene safe.”
