Female HGV driver charged after death of man in horror Glasgow crash

A female HGV driver has been charged in connection with a fatal road crash in Glasgow nearly a year ago. Emergency crews rushed to the incident involving a Mercedes lorry and pedestrian on Duke Street in the city's East End at 10.40am on June 1, 2023.

Paramedics attended and the pedestrian, a 44-year-old man, was found seriously injured.He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment, where he died a short time later.

The female driver of the lorry was uninjured. Officers investigating the crash confirmed they arrested a 45-year-old woman in connection.

A report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 45-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a road traffic offence following a fatal crash on Duke Street in Glasgow.
