Viewers of the BAFTA TV Awards were less than pleased after Casualty was named the winner of the Soap & Continuing Drama category over long-time favourites such as Emmerdale, EastEnders and Coronation Street. The soap category, in general, has been a mixed bag at the award ceremony, with ITV's Corrie walking away with the away last year but not even making the nominations list this year.

And there appeared to be further chaos as Casualty walked away with the big win during the ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday, 14 May.

Speaking of the winning moment, which wasn't fully televised due to time constraints, one fuming fan wrote: "#Eastenders robbed by Casualty again..

we'll do a clean sweep of all the awards in 2024." Another said: "@BAFTA can't believe Casualty won Continuing Drama Series over Emmerdale and EastEnders?!" while a third added: "Wth Just found out eastenders didn't win a bafta and Casualty won instead (don't even watch the hospital drama) never interested me to watch it either." However, elsewhere, others were delighted at the Claudia Winkleman show The Traitors scooping two awards during the ceremony.
